The Macna Iron Pants are a great heavier option, ideal for touring and winter weather, as well as being waterproof and offering great features. Review by Kris Hodgson

I was impressed with the Macna Iron Pants originally, and nothing has changed after spending another six months with them.

I don’t wear them quite as often as I have the gloves and jacket, as I’m always wearing Kevlar lined motorcycling jeans, and these go over the top, but on a cool morning, or when the weather has looked a bit unreliable I’ve happily worn them, at times for 10-12 hour days.

Build quality is great, the way the thermal line zips in and out is a standout, and the zips from ankles to knees are a great feature. Waterproofing has also proven exceptional the few times we’ve had really heavy rain.

Pockets are generous and easily accessed and the Iron Pants definitely receive my seal of approval. I’ve whipped the thermal liners out on warm days and still been happy to wear them around over jeans.
The waist adjusters keep them in place, and all the zips are top quality, with a great buckle at the front, there’s nothing to criticise, they are well made and do the job flawlessly.
