BikeReview.com.au are here at Phillip Island for Round of the WorldSBK Championship, with the the ASBK Round 1 also held over the weekend, ensuring a great weekend of racing for the many Aussie punters who’ve come for the weekend, whether that’s on two wheels, or four, with mates or the whole family.

There was plenty of action on and off the track on Friday, with the day largely dominated by Free Practice sessions, for both WSBK and ASBK, with ASBK qualifying running during the afternoon, when ominous clouds partially cleared to allow the sun to peak back through, with the wind remaining strong.

In the ASBK Superbike class Team Yamaha’s Wayne Maxwell took pole position for Saturday ahead of Crankt Honda Racing’s Troy Herfoss and DesmoSport Ducati’s Mike Jones. 

In Supersport, Troy Guenther took pole, with Mark Chiodo close behind, followed by Kyle Buckley.

In Moto3/125GP it was Matt Barton on pole, with Locky Taylor and Brian Houghton filling out the top three.

In Period 5/6 Dean Oughtred took pole, with competition from Marty Craggill and Craig Ditchburn.
