Hi

Part of my choices with brakes was keeping within the period of racing

I did as you have so far
Rebuilt master cylinder and calipers, all new parts
Fitted braided lines dual from ma as yet cylinder
And new EBC rotors and EBC race pads

I had no issue with the brakes at all.

Obviously there is better but for the classic racing rules here, this is what I chose but, it stops as good as my EBR 1190RX

Cheers Paul Bailey

Gday Doug

Sounds like a great bike !!!!

Yes age doesn’t matter. When you are riding a slabby
I’m a few years younger at 63 but I feel 30 riding the race bike

Keep humiliating those cars and Harley owners

Cheers - Paul Bailey.

Hello Paul -

Way nice slabside . . . . . the old gixxers are simply BADASS . . . . what else is there to say? Good to see some other "old guys" still raising some hell and having FUN!! I've been a Suzuki (gixxer) fan since the 1983 1100 Katana. I'v been riding a 1995 since 2002 . . . . I think it's a K model . . . . The former owner had it built for track days, and I'm not sure of the build, but he claimed 150+ at the rear wheel. Pretty much stock and OEM on the outside . . . . . other than a 4-1 kerKer can, and keihin flatside 39's . . . . . a sleeper for sure. I have to almost sit on the tank to keep the front wheel on the ground . . . . . even in 3rd gear!

I'll be 69 next early next month, and have never done any track racing, but have done my
share of street racing (drag). Just cruise around now mostly, looking for Harleys and (modern) muscle cars to humiliate . . . . . HAH!

Carry on . . . . . . !!

Top article and bike, Paul. You and I are of similar age (I'm 60) and i have an ex-Aussie J model too, and its also a racebike now. Ive had it since 2000 when it was a std 1052 with yoshi bits on it. After dealing to the bike to make it a pure racer, I won the Auckland club champs on mine in 2009, but, also like you i have health problems too (thrombosis). Mine is the red/black/white version (ive repainted it minus the white) and its a yoshimura replica, with yoshi cams, JE 1201cc pistons, 1127 barrel and crank, shot peened rods, APE stud kit helicoiled, ported head, 39mm keihin flatslides, undercut gears, kevlar clutch, 1127 radiator, ohlins shock, progressice fork kit, 17 's, yoshi full exh, ohlins, many other selfmade mods. Slabbies are the staunchest bike on the track!

Hi Paul,
nice bike and very impressive storry.
I owne a 1986 GSXR 1100, the same as I have bought in 1986 as a new one. Now I payed nearly the same price as I have got 30 Years bevore, as I sold the bike.
I am interrested on the changes on the fork you haye done. Could I get some detailed information please?
Does the brakes worke realy well with the stock pump and calipers? My brake feels very weak, though I have replaced the hoses, the pistons from the calipers and from the pump and of course the brakepades as well. The rotors are stock-types, why did you replace the rotors, were the worn, or were there other reasons?

I appreciate your respond.

Best regards from Austria.
