Wade Hunter getting it sideways

Yamaha Motor Australia’s official MX2 motocross team, Serco Yamaha, are proud to unveil their 2016 look and race team livery as the team prepares for the opening round of the 2016 MX Nationals, next weekend in Horsham, Victoria.

Two new riders, an updated look and renewed motivation will see Serco Yamaha enter their 15th year in motocross racing full of energy and ready to take on the challenge of chasing the MX2 crown in 2016.

Wade Hunter joined the team after an impressive showing in the MX Nationals in 2015, then a barnstorming Australian Supercross Championship where he was a regular on the podium. With the Serco team based just around the corner from Hunter’s Brisbane home, he has been hard at work dialing in his speed, fitness and bike to be fully prepared for the new season.

“It’s been the first time in a while that I carried no injuries into or through the off-season so I have been able to get plenty and riding in over the past couple of months,” Hunter explains. “Like any sport, a good pre-season is always a huge advantage when the racing begins and I’m confident both myself and the team have done the hard yards and are well placed as we head towards round one.

“Having the support from Serco Yamaha has been great and we have all gelled well. Everyone is on the same page and we are determined as a team to get the MX Nationals trophy back in the Serco meeting room in 2016.”

Wilson Todd and his 2016 Serco Yamaha YZ250F

Wilson Todd takes the next step in his journey with Yamaha in moving up to the Serco Yamaha MX2 team. Since joining Yamaha as a 9 year old rider, Todd has won nationals championships on the blue bikes at every level, capped off with his MXD win in 2015.

Now back to full fitness after having knee surgery late last year, Todd has the speed and determination to succeed in the MX2 group.

“Things have been going pretty well and I’m looking forward to the start of the championship at Horsham. I did a race in Queensland not long ago and was competitive with a heap of the MX2 guys so I have nothing to fear moving up to MX2 and I’m really excited about racing some guys that I have looked up to over the years.

“My race bike is amazing and the team support has been great. I have set some goals for the opening few rounds and I’m on track with my riding and training,” Todd ends.

Team Owner, Gavin Eales, recently attended the official team photo shoot earlier in the week to cast an eye over how things are progressing.

“Both Wade, Wilson and the team are in a good place. There is a good vibe going and everyone is supportive to each other so hopefully that shows in the results. We had a pretty good review of what we did well and what needs improving after the 2015 season and made the changes required so I would like to think we are better placed entering the season.

“We would also like to welcome Dunlop Tyres to the team for 2016 and look forward to working with them and using their Geomax range of tyres this year.

“I know everyone is keen to get the season started so our bags are packed and we are ready to Horsham,” Eales said.
