don’t buy this rubbish bike buy a dr650 Suzuki it is a great all round bike for not much more in price royal enfield should hang there head in shame

Hi, are you able to clarify what you meant by ‘ these machines will age noticeably’. Are you referring to style\cosmetics or some aspect of mechanics or build quality etc?

I have one in Nepal, and it’s a great bike. Considering getting another one in NZ. The very first batch of these bikes were not up to the standard you could see it in the welds and the chassis. By the latter half of 2016, these were all cleaned up nicely. Basically the upspec’ed export products are the ones that have passed QC with flying colours. The second best ones are flogged for the Indian market where these bikes are very competitovely priced. The 2016 2017 carb models are a joy to work with DIY. Almost all aspects of basic maintenance being open to the owner to tinker with. Easy to ride and comfortable. The only downside is the 120km/h top speed, but it’s not gonna stop you riding on the motorway.

Mine is a year old and has been perfect except for one small issue that I fixed myself. I had a gel pad inserted for the seat.

In reply to Ramiro Martin Bobier. Hey Ramiro, the jacket is the DriRider Scrambler Jacket (review here), the pants are a much older set of DriRider textile pants I borrowed from memory similar to the DriRider Nordic 2 Pants.

In reply to Keith. Hey Keith, at the launch we were told that the bike's designed for quick and easy servicing, due to being popular in markets where it'll probably be a DIY job and expensive servicing bills just aren't feasable. We'll see if we can get the official figures however.

In reply to Graham fowles. Hey Graham, An Airhawk or gel topper for the seat should really help for the longer distances, while Royal Enfield were talking some hard panniers becoming available when we tested the bike.

Hi, the Himalayan is on my shortlist for a trip to cape York and environs, dispointed about the saddle comment but I was rather looking away from the jap bikes with skinny saddles getting to old for dirk bikes,, would you change much for that sort of trip, power /weight ratio , fuel consumption all looking good.
