Totally agree, one of the most fun bikes we've had through the doors. Underrated and I reckon they look great as well. Jeff.

Absolutely love my my bike. I've done a few minor cosmetic changes (tail tidy, bottom cowling etc.), added an after market Akrapovic exhaust, and also one comfort change. I fitted slightly higher 'clip ons' that makes a subtle change to my riding position but adds heaps in comfort. The slightly raised bars also allows me to sit a couple cm further back on the softer and wider part of the saddle. I've owned a lot of bikes over the years and this certainly is an amazing middle weight all-rounder. Fun, handles well, great performance, and although some reviewers disagree, the brakes are quite adequate. If you are in the market for a naked in this cc range, you won't find anything better value for money.

Six months on fr 1st review and I've done a lot more kms on it. If anything I think it's even better.
I'd disagree on the braking issue (unless your a city rider who brakes constantly rather than using engine braking) If you're hard braking on the open road, then you're not managing your cornering.
i barely use the brakes and the pads will last a long time.
I see guys (partic Americans on Y T doing great throttle snatches on gear changes like they've just got to wring it. Maybe some peoples braking style is similar

Love the review & I seriously think this is an underrated bike, but then I may be a bit biased as well.

I've had my SV650X (non LAMS) from two days before the official release date. 1st sold in Aus. That's my only claim to fame ever! I cannot fault it. A week after purchase I did my first Far Ride (1000km/24hrs) & was worried I might have the sorest butt. Absolutely not! The comfiest factory spec seat I have ever sat on. Much better than the exes pilly seat on his BMW R1200GSA. She's done about 23k now & only now & I am only now needing to get the tyres replaced. Longevity on the stock tyres has been great with a combo of twisties, distance and highway, the Dunlops were great. Time to try something different though.

I'm not all technical and spec orientated, but it's economical, reliable, loves the corners, highway and suburban streets. Doesn't mind a but if redlining at times too & thanks to the low RPM assist, I'm pleased to say I've only stalled twice in 2 years. I'd hate to drop her though, as replacement parts are a bit difficult to get.

Now she's out of warranty, time to start the mods. Suzuki Australia's lack of options means much if my minor mods will be customised. On the list are slip-on, lights, indicators, tail tidy, mirrors, GP shift & grips.

Just to help anyone considering buying.
Six months ago I rode a demo Enfield interceptor 650 and while the clutch and transmission were very good, I was underwhelmed by the rest of it.
I stopped on the way home at a Suzuki dealer and had a ride on another possibility - the SV650X.
Amazingly good and streets ahead. A week later, a low mileage one at 2k plus below MRSP came up so I grabbed it.
I love it - superb handling, smooth grunty motor, great fuel economy, Suzuki reliability.
This is a beautiful package (bar the hard seat)

Thanks Chris!
Really appreciate the feedback. It's such a great bike, just so much fun - has that fun factor that is either there or not and can't be pinpointed.
I guess a lot of things are on hold now for all of us but I hope you get your bike. Jeff.

Hi Jeff. I’ve seen your review on the Suzuki SV650X also on YouTube. I have to say your coverage is very professional and thorough. And this comment comes from someone who’s spent nearly 40 years in TV news.
I’m seriously considering purchasing the SV650X and I appreciate your neutral take on Suzuki’s offering here.
The ability’s of this motorcyle and its value nails it for me as a fun day out to the coast here in Norfolk England
