Got to agree with you Greig, they are fantastic tyres. I ran them for years here in Australia, reliable and predictable in all conditions. Jeff.

In Scotland Avons are superb in the cold and the wet.
Every god dam day here is a new adventure in aqua sports, and in winter it's a survival sport...but then some of us are tougher than others.
I have ridden down to minus 11 here on the Cobra Chrome's on a XVS950 cruiser....being sensible as you would in these conditions on wet icy and salt gritted roads....no issues with the tyres slipping or sliding.
These things stick like sh#t to rabbit fur.
And here I am Sunday morning having a cuppa and 2 brand new Avons sitting here in the kitchen waiting to get fitted this week.
Cold wet roads, heavy bike.....not fitting anything other than these fellas.

Done 13000kms on my GL1800 Goldwing and the rear tyre has worn dangerously with the leading edge of the grip pattern worn down excessively buy 3 mls below the trailing edge with a 1ml feathered strip of rubber lip also developing. It set up a vibration through the bike when cornering. Tyre pressures were checked before each ride. They showed normal wear up to 10000k kms with this wear pattern developing over a 3 day ride and the last 3000kms. Satisfied with the kilometres achieved as the goldwings are a heavy touring bike. The general performance is also good, but near the end of their life this excessive wear pattern can create a concerning performance in wet conditions.
This wear pattern is possibly exposed due to New Zealands coarse chip used as opposed to smoother road surfaces in other countries

They are great on warm weather , but c*** to say the least on wet roads or god forbid on road markers.

I nearly crashed 2 times on a short drive 10 km without pressing the bike whatsoever, i cannot understand how they are so bad on wet surfaces.

I should get my money back and then some...
