Hi there Steve,
Depends on use - for the track days stock gearing is OK, but is a little tall on the street so I would go up a few teeth on the rear for road riding.

In reply to <a href="https://bikereview.com.au/2015-aprilia-tuono-v4-1100-rr-test/#comment-11">Rob Harding</a>.

Hi Rob, both very different bikes that end up getting the same job done. The 1290 has an incredible engine, punchier and more aggressive than the Tuono, so more exciting. The Tuono makes smooth, strong power like a superbike, much more refined delivery but not as exciting. Handling-wise the Tuono is a clear leader and is virtually an RSV4 with flat 'bars, while the KTM to me still feels like there are dirt bike traits in the bike, despite it being a roadbike. The KTM is a better all-rounder on the street but if you want to to a lot of track days, the Aprilia is the winner. Ride them both is my advice. We will post our 1290 test in a few days actually.
