Hi there,
The 40 Years R 1250 GS Adventure, which takes its visual inspiration from the R 100 GS ‘Bumblebee’, is based on the more off-road oriented Rallye X specification, which means it comes with a host of off-road-oriented features as standard.
These include:
Continental TKC80 knobby tyres
Large and serrated off-road Rallye footpegs
A shorter windscreen
A Rallye seat, which is taller, narrower and firmer than the standard seat, thus providing great comfort and control while riding off-road in the standing position. If a heated seat is a priority – as well as greater pillion seat comfort – then the Ice Grey, Rallye and Triple Black variants could be the more attractive options.
 
Furthermore, a topbox can be fitted once a luggage grid is added.
 
The heated grips function is the standard two-phase (high/low) system as featured in the vast majority of BMW models, with the exception of K 1600 models, which has broader, multi-level adjustability via rotary dial.
 
Customers who prefer a more adventure touring-oriented R 1250 GSA would be best served with the regular Ice Grey GSA, Rallye or Triple Black.

					<description><![CDATA[BMW fail to highlight the that the GSA 1250 in 40th edition colours has less equipment than the basic colours and the triple black. Unbelievable but true is you can’t put a top box on the backplate - ridiculous decision for Australia and touring needs. Also there is no heated seat and the handgrips do not have the new technology  for warming - they use the old version from 2004  two stage.  The non 40th edition  all have the new technology through the TFT screen and control heating to grips and seat by a dial to suit needs. Summary is BMW have paired back the bumble bee and pretend it’s a rallye bike so it doesn’t need all the new extras .....without paying additional money of course. Oh and by the way just to make things worse the 1250GS which is meant to have less specs actually has all the heating ....and a top box capability. Someone in BMW marketing clearly hasn’t got a clue about the GSA reputation or its target market for touring or worse still does and have made a cynical grab for money. Unfortunately not one review states any of the above an dealers are only experiencing the bad news when the bikes come in and angry buyers feel dudded. KTM have just launched a superb new 1290 which is worth a look at for anyone fed up with being treated like an idiot.]]></description>
