Queensland Raceway will host a motorsport double-header from next weekend, as the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK Round Five) teams up with Supercars for a weekend of high-speed action. It’s the first time since 2023 that the “two-plus-four” format has been used.

As the 2025 ASBK season reaches its halfway point, Josh Waters sits firmly at the top of the SW-Motech Superbike leaderboard with 215 points. His dominance has been built on seven victories and a podium in every race to date. Local favourite Mike Jones is 53 points adrift, and the Queenslander will be determined to close the gap in front of a home crowd.

Mike Jones is oftenunstoppable at Queensland Raceway on his factory Yamaha YZF-R1.

Adding to the excitement, the meeting will see the debut of four Supersport Next Gen machines—an important step in the championship’s ongoing development and a sign of broader eligibility for newer bikes. The Superbike grid itself will be bolstered by a mix of returning stars and fresh faces. Harrison Voight is back between his international commitments, while Marcus Hamod, a current Supersport competitor and former Australian Supersport 300 champion, will make his Superbike debut. Beau Beaton is set to line up in the Superbike Masters, and Arthur Sissis will also return to the premier class.

When the lights went out to start the first race Jones won the drag race to turn one to lead the field from Herfoss as Halliday again blew the start for Waters to move into third.

With Supercars sharing the bill, the sound of V8s and Superbikes will combine to deliver a spectacular motorsport atmosphere. Expect close racing, championship drama, and wall-to-wall action both on track and in the paddock.
