Honda Confirms First Full-Sized Electric Motorcycle: The WN7
Honda has officially confirmed the details of its first full-sized production electric motorcycle – the Honda WN7. The bike, which made its first appearance as the EV FUN Concept at EICMA 2024, will enter production in late 2025, with the first UK customer deliveries scheduled for early 2026.
A New Name for a New Era
The name WN7 is steeped in meaning: the “W” stands for “Be the Wind”, reflecting the development concept, “N” signifies Naked, while “7” refers to the power class. Honda has designed the WN7 to retain the slim, futuristic look of the EV FUN Concept while adding everyday practicality, robust charging options, and a performance level comparable to mid-capacity ICE motorcycles.
Charging Flexibility
One of the standout features of the WN7 is its charging flexibility. Equipped with an automotive-grade CCS2 connector, the bike can achieve a 20 – 80 per cent top-up in just 30 minutes on a rapid charger. For home use, a 6kVA wallbox charger can complete a 0 – 100 per cent charge in under three hours [a standard 10A 240v Australian wall socket supports approximately 2.4 kVA, which would charge it in approximately 7 – 8 hours]. This flexibility makes the WN7 suitable for both daily commuting and weekend leisure rides, removing much of the anxiety associated with electric motorcycle ownership.
Range and Performance
The fixed lithium-ion battery delivers a range of over 130km, a figure designed to meet the needs of urban riders and short-range tourers. At just 217kg kerb weight, the bike is impressively light for an electric motorcycle in this class.
The water-cooled 18kW motor provides performance comparable to a 600cc ICE bike, while the 100Nm of torque on tap puts it in the territory of a litre-class machine when it comes to pulling power. Honda will also offer an 11kW A1 licence version, ensuring accessibility for newer riders and those in restricted licence categories.
Designed for Emotion
Honda says the WN7 is about more than figures. The company highlights that the bike has been tested extensively on European roads to deliver a unique, quiet, vibration-free, and emissions-free riding experience. While the sensation is new, Honda’s trademark stability, balance, and refinement remain integral to the WN7’s character.
This is not just Honda’s first electric production motorcycle, but also the culmination of the company’s 75+ years of motorcycle experience, drawing on a heritage that surpassed 500 million units built earlier this year. The WN7 is designed to feel unmistakably Honda, despite being very different from the brand’s ICE offerings.
Equipment Highlights
Although full specifications will be unveiled at EICMA 2025, Honda has confirmed several features:
- A five-inch TFT screen with RoadSync connectivity and exclusive EV menus
- Full LED lighting front and rear
- Standard ABS, traction management and rider-friendly ergonomics
These details point to a well-equipped motorcycle aimed squarely at the premium naked EV segment.
Honda’s entry into the full-sized electric motorcycle space is a significant step, signalling the beginning of a new chapter for the brand and the wider industry. With flexible charging, mid-capacity performance, and premium design, the WN7 looks set to carve out a new space for itself in the fast-developing EV motorcycle market. Full technical details, including final specifications and accessories, will be revealed at EICMA 2025.
Price and Availability
The on-the-road price of the Honda WN7 is set at £12,999 (approx. AU$25,000) in the UK, placing it in direct competition with premium electric models from established players such as Zero and Energica.
Honda has not yet confirmed whether the WN7 will officially be sold in the Australian market. We certainly hope it does make its way Down Under, and at BikeReview.com.au we’re looking forward to swinging a leg over one for a full review as soon as the opportunity arises.
