The team secured two race wins across the round, highlighted by a dominant performance aboard the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R machinery in the Next Gen class. It was a milestone weekend for the squad, marking the team’s first-ever race victories at Sydney Motorsport Park in ASBK competition.

Hayden Nelson set the tone early with a superb victory in Race 4, before backing it up with a strong second-place finish in Race 5. Teammate Tom Edwards was equally impressive, finishing third in Race 4 before charging to victory in the final race of the weekend.

The combined results gave the Kawasaki BCperformance Racing Team a perfect podium record for the round, with finishes of 1–3 in Race 4 and 1–2 in Race 5 – a result that showcased both the pace of the riders and the performance of the Ninja ZX-6R in Next Gen trim.

The results also had a significant impact on the championship standings. Edwards now sits second in the Next Gen Championship on 104 points, with Nelson close behind in third, just three points adrift. The tight points battle sets up an exciting continuation of the season as the championship heads to The Bend Motorsport Park for the next round.

Team owner and manager Kelvin Reilly said the results were particularly special given the event was the team’s home round.

“Our home round is always a special one for us, with heaps of friends, sponsors, supporters and fans coming to SMSP,” Reilly said.

“So it was even more special for us to see both Hayden and Tom take a win each and achieve a 100 per cent podium record for the round, going 1–3 and 1–2. It’s a testament to how good the Ninja ZX-6R really is in Next Gen race trim and how much work has gone in behind the scenes.”

“A huge thanks to the whole team, our sponsors and partners.”

With momentum firmly on their side, the Kawasaki BCperformance Racing Team now turns its attention to Round 3 of the championship at The Bend Motorsport Park, where the battle in the Next Gen class is set to intensify.
