Gear Review | Fly Racing Kinetic Sym Motocross Gear

Finding motocross gear that offers the right mix of comfort, durability, performance and value isn’t always easy. After spending plenty of time riding in Fly Racing’s Kinetic Sym jersey, pants and gloves, it’s clear this mid-range outfit punches well above its price point.

With a combined RRP of $309.85, the Kinetic package delivers impressive quality without demanding premium dollars. The black-and-white colourway looks clean, modern and professional, with a design that pairs easily with almost any boots or helmet. More importantly, the outfit feels lightweight and comfortable from the moment you pull it on.

The jersey is built around a multi-panel construction that provides an athletic fit without restricting movement. The fabric feels soft against the skin while moisture-wicking materials and strategically placed mesh panels keep airflow high, even during hot motocross sessions or slower technical trail rides. It never becomes heavy or uncomfortable after a full day on the bike, and the low-profile collar eliminates neck irritation. An extended rear tail also keeps the jersey securely tucked in, something riders who prefer a neat, race-style fit will appreciate.

The pants are arguably the standout of the package. Fly Racing has done an excellent job combining durability with flexibility through a tough 900D multi-panel construction and well-positioned stretch panels that allow unrestricted movement. Whether standing through rough whoops or moving around the bike in deep ruts, the pants never feel restrictive.

Fit adjustment is another highlight, the ratchet waist closure works quickly and securely, while the BOA Fit System allows simple micro-adjustments for a personalised fit throughout the day. Inside, a mesh comfort liner improves ventilation and prevents the sticky feeling some riding pants develop after long hours in the trails or on track. The pre-shaped knees comfortably accommodate braces or guards, adding to the overall comfort.

The Kinetic gloves offer a classic motocross fit that’s neither too tight nor too loose, with four-way stretch panels across the fingers providing excellent flexibility. Airflow is impressive thanks to the ventilated construction, while silicone grip panels on the fingers maintain positive control of the clutch and brake levers in dusty or sweaty conditions. Reinforced double-layer material through the palm and thumb should also provide good longevity for regular riders.

What impressed me most was how well the three pieces complement each other. Every item offers the same balance of comfort, ventilation, durability and rider-focused design. The outfit feels light without sacrificing toughness, making it equally suited to motocross, enduro riding or regular weekend trail rides.

While premium gear may offer slightly lighter materials or more advanced features, the differences become difficult to justify when you consider the Kinetic’s price. This is a package that looks good, performs consistently and has stood up to plenty of abuse as I have tested over the past six months and plenty of washing machine cycles.
