Pedro Acosta joins Ducati Lenovo Team for 2027 – 2028 season
Pedro Acosta joins Ducati Lenovo Team until the end of the 2028 season | Ducati has confirmed one of the biggest rider signings in recent MotoGP history, announcing that rising Spanish star Pedro Acosta will join the factory Ducati Lenovo Team for the 2027 and 2028 MotoGP seasons.
The two-year agreement will see Acosta line up alongside six-time MotoGP World Champion Marc Márquez, creating what is likely to be one of the strongest rider pairings on the MotoGP grid. Acosta will make his debut aboard Ducati’s factory Desmosedici GP machine at the beginning of the 2027 season, with Ducati describing the signing as a key investment in the future of its MotoGP program.
Still only 22 years old, Acosta has rapidly established himself as one of the sport’s brightest talents. After winning both the Moto3 and Moto2 World Championships within three seasons of entering Grand Prix racing, he stepped into MotoGP and immediately impressed, earning Rookie of the Year honours in 2024 before finishing fourth in the championship in 2025 with 13 podium finishes.
Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali said Acosta represents the ideal rider to help shape the next era of the factory team. “Pedro is undoubtedly one of the most talented young riders in the MotoGP paddock,” Domenicali said. “At just 22 years old, he is the kind of rider with whom a new and exciting chapter can be written. Alongside Marc, he represents the ideal complement for a team that wants to continue playing a leading role in the future.”
Ducati Corse General Manager Luigi Dall’Igna said the combination of Márquez’s experience and Acosta’s youth would strengthen Ducati’s long-term development, as Pecco Bagnaia moves to Aprilia for the 2027 season…
“After Marc’s confirmation, we wanted to add a young and fast rider to the Desmosedici GP development project,” Dall’Igna said. “Pedro is an undisputed talent who has demonstrated extraordinary precocity throughout his career. His arrival will be a stimulus for everyone and, with the support of the team, we believe he will continue to grow into one of the sport’s leading riders.”
The announcement answers one of the biggest rider market questions heading into 2027, with Acosta widely regarded as the hottest young talent available. By pairing the experienced Márquez with one of MotoGP’s brightest future stars, Ducati has signalled its intention to remain the benchmark manufacturer well into the next era of Grand Prix racing.
