We've just had a new Shoei Neotec II modular helmet arrive, designed to accommodate a Sena comms system seamlessly, here's a first look. Full review to come!
My brand new Shoei Neotec II helmet has just arrived thanks to McLeod Accessories, and while you wouldn’t realise at first glance, it’s actually a modular flip-up helmet, which can convert into an open face at the press of a button in the chin.

In the awesome yellow Excursion TC-3 colour scheme this helmet really stands out and weighing just 1700g it’s still light when you consider it’s a modular helmet, and features an internal drop down visor, plus is designed to take a Sena SRL comms system.

The Sena mounting systems are built in, so once fitted it’s an entirely integrated design, while the helmet is specifically designed to ensure good audio and low wind noise.
There’s plenty of venting for airflow and the helmet takes a CNS-3 visor, coming with a standard clear visor and a Pinlock EVO, which we’ve fitted straight up. The free included Pinlock is absolutely priceless in wet and winter weather, where it prevents the visor fogging up.
As mentioned flipping the helmet up is easily accomplished with a button on the front of the nose, and effortlessly lifts up with no force required, while closing the helmet back down is likewise easy one handed. A switch extends and retracts the internal drop down visor, while there’s ratchet type strap.
The padding also includes a skirt-type design around the neck, which helps prevent air incursion and will ensure good audio with the comms system fitted.
We’ll be doing a full review shortly, so stay tuned, but so far I’m incredibly impressed.
The Shoei Neotec is available in a variety of solid colours for $999.90 RRP, or for $1099.90 RRP for the graphic varieties. Why do we not get the 3XL in the Shoei Neotec. And why the limited range of sizes in the solid colors. Who makes these decisions obviously not someone who rides.

Hey Richard, I can’t find any mention of the 3XL size being available for this helmet model anywhere, from a quick Google search. I can understand it being frustrating when the colour or graphic preferred isn’t available in your size though (we’ve all been there), but if I had to guess I would imagine demand and our smaller Australian market plays a part in the equation of what is available.
We could probably change that if we bought a new helmet or two every year, but I can’t see that many riders choosing to buy a new premium lid that often. With two solid 2XL colours available, as well as all the graphics there’s still good choices there.
