We’ve just returned from California where we put the new Royal Enfield INT Bear 650 scrambler to the ultimate test in the desert where it originated from. Think of it as an Interceptor with more travel, scrambler styling, upgraded suspension and torque!



The INT Bear 650 is named after the famous Big Bear Run desert race, where AMA Hall of Famer Eddie Mulder started last in 765th place and crossed the line first on a Royal Enfield 500. Eddie was just 16-years-old at the time…

The USA version of the original Royal Enfield Interceptor was, in fact, a scrambler motorcycle, thus the link to in particular the state it was launched and created for originally, the birthplace of scrambling in the 1960s – California… We have a feature on that and the Big Bear Race with Eddie Mulder coming up. It has over 70 per cent new parts, including a strengthened sub-frame, SHOWA shocks and forks, upgraded brakes, a two-into-one exhaust system and lots more.
