With 83 bikes tested and 30 launches attended, we've earned a break at BikeReview HQ... For me, it'll involve preparing my (modern to me) 1995 Fireblade for club rego. Yep, I'm that old...
Editorial | G’day, thanks for your support in 2024. Whether you’re a regular reader, someone researching a bike or product, a race fan, tourer looking for advice or industry member checking in, we appreciate your time and hope our content is up to scratch…
2024 has been a huge year for us here at BikeReview.com.au, in a good way. We have tested no fewer than 83 individual motorcycles, covering a minimum of 500km on each bike but generally closer to 750km. That’s a big year of testing, shooting, writing and editing… we also attended 30 launches this year. We haven’t even had time to publish everything, so keep an eye out for those ones.
“To kick off our first double digit b’day, we are launching a new look site”…
I have to say, I would be absolutely lost without my fantastic team of dedicated, experienced, enthusiastic contributors. We are so fortunate to have such a great team from top racers to seasoned tourers, technical legends to customisers, daily commuters to motocross riders, new riders, male and female, we have all bases covered for all types of bike and rider. Some of our team have been with us since the very first issue of Rapid Bikes magazine, way back in 2004…
In 2025 we celebrate our 10th Birthday! We have a huge party planned later in the year, but to kick off our first double digit b’day, we are launching a new look site. We are working hard on this now, and hope to have it ready for you by the end of March, so keep an eye out for that. It will have the same current great content and library, with the addition of some new sections that, although I can’t say too much yet, I am sure you will enjoy and appreciate. Stay tuned!
As busy as my team and I have been testing new models and new products, I am well aware that the motorcycle industry, and just about all retail businesses, have had a challenging year. I have to admit it has been a bit of a head scratcher for me, as 30 bike launches is probably the most we have attended in a single year in at least a decade, back when sportsbikes were popular.
At the same time as so many new models are appearing (many of them LAMS bikes), there is no boom showing on the showroom floors. Let’s hope things pick up for the retailers next year. On a personal note it was great to get back on a bike. I was testing again from May onwards, first bike was the ZX-4RR… so fun. And that NMAX 155 long termer I had really helped me recover. I hope you had a fantastic year of motorcycling, and that 2025 brings lots of happy memories on two wheels.
Well, that’s enough from me for now, but I will be checking in with you each month moving forward. I really enjoyed writing my Editorials each issue of the print magazine days, and I reckon it gave me more opportunity to connect with you lot, my valued readers, so I’ll see you here at the end of each month for a quick catch up. For now, I’m off to the shed to prepare my Fireblade for Historic Rego!
