The Falco Liberty 3 boot is a versatile mid-boot aimed at riders who commute, tour and spend time off the bike, balancing protection, comfort and usability for the daily rider....
Aside from my Falco race and adventure boots, I was in need of some daily touring-style boots, just when the Falco Liberty 3 arrived to review. Not a full-height touring or race boot, more a casual mid-boot, they appeal to me as I use the bike a lot for daily transport.
They come up to around mid-calf and strike a really nice balance between protection and everyday comfort. Straight out of the box, the Liberty 3 felt extremely comfortable. The sole has decent padding, making walking around far more pleasant than in a stiff race or adventure boot.
That’s a big plus if, like me, you’re hopping off the bike regularly — whether it’s running errands, grabbing a coffee with mates at the local bike café, or wandering the pits at weekend race meetings. They’re comfortable enough to wear all day, and I’ll definitely be using them when heading to St George and other local rounds I attend.
The boots are constructed from Falco’s Micro-Synth synthetic leather, which feels soft while remaining robust. It offers abrasion resistance comparable to traditional leather but with a lighter, more flexible feel. Waterproofing comes courtesy of a fixed High-Tex membrane, and there are micro-perforated sections to help with breathability. We’ve had a hot summer, and I’m pleased to say they manage heat pretty well, keeping sweat to a minimum. As with most mid-height boots, they’re effectively waterproof provided your pants cover the top.
Entry is via a side zip with a Velcro flap, making them quick and easy to get on and off — something you really appreciate during the daily commute. The direct-injected high-grip rubber sole provides plenty of traction on wet or uneven surfaces, while the PU moulded gear pad protects the upper from wear when shifting.
In terms of safety, the Liberty 3 includes D3O ankle protection, along with reinforced toe and heel areas for added durability and impact resistance. They’re CE-certified, so you’re getting proper riding protection, even though they don’t look overly technical or bulky. You won’t find replaceable toe sliders or aggressive external armour like you would on a track boot, so I wouldn’t use these for circuit riding — but that’s not what they’re designed for.

I’ve now worn these boots for six months, and they’ve held up exceptionally well. They still look close to new, despite regular use in all sorts of conditions. Stitching remains tight, the sole shows minimal wear, and the zip is still smooth. That speaks volumes about build quality at this price point.
If you’re after a great-value road boot that leans toward comfort and practicality without sacrificing essential protection, the Falco Liberty 3 is well worth considering. They fill that niche perfectly for riders who want something protective yet casual enough for everyday life.
