You don’t get much in your grocery trolley for under a hundred dollars these days, so it came as quite a surprise that for $70 you can get a set of a versatile glove from Macna. A glove that will suit a range of riding from urban commuting to adventure riding.

Comfort

The comfort comes through a mix of spandex, neoprene and synthetic nubuck. The neoprene is the breathable fabric on the back of the hands, while the synthetic nubuck is the suede leather-like fabric on the palms and fingers. The spandex is in panels around the fingers providing an excellent range of unrestricted movement.

There is a hard plastic palm protector on the outside of both gloves and padding on the back of each lower thumb joint. It’s right in that zone where you get blisters after long days riding off-road. There’s a small tab at the base of wrist to assist in pulling the gloves on and a rubber-backed Velcro closure tab.

Durability

While they have the look of a motocross glove, with the added protection on the palm and thumb as well as the greater durability of the synthetic nubuck on the palms and fingers, the Trace is a glove that’s well-suited to both adventure riding and commuters. They aren’t a cold or wet weather glove, but practical, comfortable, stylish and inexpensive making them a great choice for many riders.
