Cube Racing’s Oli Bayliss has beaten 2019 ASBK Champion Tm Toparis topping the time sheet in qualifying today for tomorrow’s MotorsportsTV Supersport class race as part of Round 1 of the mi-bike Motorcycle Insurance Australian Superbike Championship, presented by Motul. Words & Pics: MA

The 16-year-old Queenslander, aboard his Yamaha clocked a 1:36.893 with Toparis, who is only competing in the first round before heading to Europe to race in the World Supersport Championship, was second. This sets up a tantilising battle tomorrow between the two hot shots, with Bayliss also doing double duties as the Australian Wild Card in the World Supersport Class.

Yamaha Stay Upright Rider Training back Yamaha rider Jack Passfield who has been inform since the Official ASBK Test at Phillip Island last month, finished in third by less than half a second.

A number of other contenders in the 600 class will be busily this evening looking to find an extra second or two including Nic Liminton, Max Stauffer (who has jumped from 300s), Jack Hyde, Rhys Belling, Tom Edwards, and Broc Pearson.
