2017 Suzuki GSX250R Revealed
At the EICMA motorcycle show held in Milan, Suzuki Motor Corporation unveiled an all new sports motorcycle, the new entry level contender on the streets, the Suzuki GSX250R.
Suzuki is proud to introduce the new GSX250R as a fully faired street machine that brings the excitement and riding satisfaction of Suzuki’s sport bike heritage to a broader audience.
Featuring sporty good looks, responsive yet easy-to-control performance, nimble handling, and a comfortable riding position, the GSX250R is equally at home on the daily commute as it is when touring for long distances.
The new GSX250R is a perfect choice for a wide range of riders. This includes those who are looking to buy their first sports street bike, or who are returning to the world of two-wheeled riding pleasure later in life.
Suzuki GSX250R key features:
- All new full faired street motorcycle from Suzuki
- 248cc parallel twin cylinder engine tuned for excellent low to mid-range torque
- Two into one lightweight exhaust system
- Full LED multifunction instrumentation
- LED tail light
- ABS brakes
- 10 spoke lightweight alloy wheels
- Two colour options; Pearl Black and Metallic Triton Blue
- Australian availability: Q2, 2017 – Final pricing TBC
Powering the GSX250R is a 248cc parallel-twin engine, based on a similar design to the Suzuki INAZUMA 250 motorcycle engine. The engineers conducted a thorough analysis and optimisation on the engine to maximise low-to-mid range torque and provide a powerful ride that features ease of control.
The camshaft profile for the GSX250R deliver maximum acceleration performance at riding speeds between 20km/h to 90km/h, as this is the range that is used most often. As an additional benefit, the cam profile also suppresses noise generation to deliver a smoother, more pleasant ride.
Multi function full LCD instruments keep the rider informed and are easy to use. The GSX250R has a full LCD instrument panel set in a modern dashboard, framed by turn signal, neutral, hi-beam, programmable engine-RPM indicator light (shift light).
The bright LCD panel includes a segmented-bar tachometer across the top, digital speedometer, gear position indicator, digital clock, digital odometer with dual trip meters, average fuel consumption meters, fuel gauge; and an oil change timing indicator.
Handling is managed by comfortable clip on handlebars which have a low mounting point but still offer a comfortable ride position when touring. KYB front forks and single rear shock absorber with spring preload adjustment provide excellent handling and cornering ability.
Seating is a relatively low 790mm and slim fuel tank design allow for better planting of the feet when stopped. The rider and pillion seats are separate items giving a sporty look and better cushioning.
Newly designed 17 inch 10-spoke wheels are graced with IRC tyres. ABS braking offers peace of mind for the rider and large petal type disc rotors gift the new look wheels.
Suzuki understands that motorcycle styling is important for entry level riders who want their machine to stand out from the crowd. Suzuki’s styling designers have successfully created a motorcycle that offers the best of both worlds.
On the one hand, it features a sporty and aggressive look with a highly futuristic flair. On the other hand, it features a comfortable riding position, well-cushioned seat and slim design that make riding in town or touring for long distances equally pleasing.
Enhancing the sporty, aggressive look and futuristic flair of the GSX250R are newly designed surface-emitting LEDs employed by the position lamps up front and the taillight in the rear. Their smooth edge-to-edge illumination and the chevron-like shape that flanks the headlight create a truly distinctive and highly appealing lighting scheme.
The all-new GSX250R is expected to arrive in Australia during the second quarter of 2017, available in Pearl Black or Metallic Triton Blue. Final pricing will be confirmed closer to launch.
Claimed power and torque figures are: 18.4kW at 8000rpm and 23.4Nm at 6500rpm for Euro spec machines.
