Federations and CONUs (continental unions) can apply to be part of the next season of competition until the 28th of February 2023. First time applications for 160cc Series are open, and competitions that have already run a 160cc Series can now also apply to stage a 190cc Series – adding the next step on the ladder. Any Series wishing to add a 190cc category must apply to do so.

There remain three types of Cup for 2023:

  • FIM MiniGP National Cup: organised by or through one FMN (national federation)
  • FIM MiniGP Regional Cup: organised by or through various FMNs
  • FIM MiniGP Continental Cup: organised by or through a CONU

As in 2022, each Series but must have a minimum of five events comprising 10 races and the top riders in each Series will then be invited to the World Final. Applications are to be made to the FIM and Dorna Sports, via an application form that the FIM will provide to each national/continental federation upon request. Once the application period is over, the FIM will select the Cups that will form the third FIM MiniGP World Series and inform the competitions whose applications to add a 190cc Series have been accepted.

"Japan is already a vital presence in the motorcycle market and in motorcycle racing, and the FIM MiniGP Japan Series will ensure an economically viable and equal environment for young riders looking to begin their careers in racing."

The FIM MiniGP World Series is the first global initiative in motorsport aimed at creating grassroots equality, creating some incredible opportunities for young riders on the Road to MotoGP.

Series that began in 2021 or 2022 do not need to reapply and will automatically be included for 2023 providing they fully adhere to the 2023 conditions. They must also send their calendar to the FIM and Dorna Sports a minimum of three months before their first event.

The guide found here provides a comprehensive look at the regulations, conditions, equipment, technical requirements and next steps for each FMN/CONU, promoter or interested party looking to apply to become part of the FIM MiniGP World Series.
