The gorgeous summer holiday resort town of Lignano Sabbiadoro came alive from May 9 to 12 with a bike festival with numbers we can only dream about here in Australia! An incredible 240,000 riders visited the 38th Biker Fest International, taking in everything from food to music, new bikes and customs.

We really miss our bike shows and expos here in Australia. In Europe, they are still cranking, and important…

The 38th Biker Fest International was run in Lignano Sabbiadoro over the weekend of May 9 to 12, with a staggering 240,000 attendees. The massive popularity of BFI is thanks to fee admission, demo rides, a fantastic location and passionate organisation and promo by the organisers, the Persello family.

Held on the opening weekend of the tourist season over there, in stunning weather, riders attended from all over Italy, Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Czech Republlic, Hungary and more. We would love to go some time, if you are an Aussie and have been, let us know!

Some of the highlights were 5000 test rides, a mini off-road raid called the Cavalcata Tasellata, a huge parade, 50cc Fever Fest for vintage mopeds, 11 rock concerts on the main stage, a Miss Biker Fest competition, and a parade called Saturday Light Fever, with thousands of bikes taking place.

This year, new additions included the Chicano Show, dedicated to Mexican-styled custom Harley’s, one of the most popular custom trends in Europe just now. Biker Fest is Europe’s most historic custom bike show, and has been running since 1987! The Italian Motorcycle Championship is a springboard to the World Custom Bike Championships.

The next big event over there will be held over the weekend of September 12 to 15, and is called Italian Bike Week. We can’t wait to see what that brings, and to organise a trip in the next few years.
