Aussies Impress at FIM World Junior MX Championship
Australia has finished fourth overall in the National Team Standings for the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship. Motorcycling Australia (MA) is extremely proud of the results and commitment by the Australian team in this year’s event! The result is an impressive feat by Australia’s up and coming talent.
The future stars of the Grand Prix Motocross world were on display in Tartu, Estonia over the weekend as the country hosted this year’s FIM Junior Motocross World Championships.
The best young future stars of motocross, raced for their shot at the Junior World Champion title in the classes of the FIM Junior Motocross 125cc World Championship, the FIM Junior Motocross 85cc World Championship and FIM 65cc Junior Motocross World Cup.
This year’s overall championship went to Denmark, with second going to Netherlands and third to Italy. Australia just missed out the top three by four points.
Australia Team Manger Mark Willingham described the weekend; “It was a very solid effort and performance from the riders, only small differences would have made large inroads to a higher position. I’m very proud of all the riders and they have represented their country phenomenally well.”
In the 125cc class, Bailey Malkiewicz managed to finish with 12th and 13th place finishes. Mason Semmens managed 24th and 18th placings.
For the 85cc class, Alex Larwood managed to qualify and finish in 18th and 7th places. Unfortunately due to tight sessions Cody Chittick just missed out on qualification and Jett Lawrence had to withdraw due to a crash on Thursday practice and wasn’t able to continue.
Finally in the 65cc class, Kayden Minear and Jet Aslop managed very impressive results over the course of the weekend. Minear managed a 4th and 3rd place finishes. Aslop managed 9th and 6th placings.
MA is very proud of the results of efforts and results of Team Australia in this highly competitive event.
