Bryan Staring Moves to Third in ASBK Championship Chase
West-Australian based Bryan Staring has taken two 5th-place finishes aboard the DesmoSport Ducati Panigale V4 R superbike at Wakefield Park Raceway to sit third in the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) championship standings after three rounds.

Team co-owner, Ben Henry: “It’s no secret that I’m disappointed with our results this weekend. The whole team is. Although 5th is a good result in a field as strong as what we have in the ASBK, and we now sit third in the championship, our expectations and abilities are higher. We started the weekend slow compared to our times in testing, gaining some traction in FP2 but we really didn’t show much true speed until Qualifying, where Bryan was only one tenth from the front row, giving us some confidence in our race pace.”

“Ultimately though we just didn’t move forward, especially in the later stages of the races where we felt we would be strong. I really want to thank the whole team. It’s weekends like this that really test us and I’m proud that we all rally together, focus on the positives, problem solve and focus on driving forward together.” He finished.

We tested quite well but when we got to the race weekend, I never felt the same level of comfort on the motorcycle and essentially, I was constantly looking for more grip out of the Panigale V4 R rear tyre in every session.”

“I was trying really hard, maybe even a little too hard to get the bike to be where I wanted it to be on the track, but in the end the truth of it is that I only really felt good in Qualifying two all weekend. Although it’s a tough weekend, I really want to thank everyone in the team for pulling together, listening, and doing everything possible to keep our heads up despite the challenges on the track. I’m already going over the weekend with Ben and Byron to review before we switch our focus completely to the next round in Darwin.”
Over the other side of the world, Oli Bayliss pulled off an awesome points finish in the WorldSSP at the Assen round!
Team co-owner, Troy Bayliss: “It’s a mixed weekend for me. I’m really happy with Oli’s results in Assen, getting points in both races and coming closer to a top ten finish, but back at Wakefield, we just didn’t fire the way we know we can. We have a team of competitive people, so they’re all feeling a little flat today, but Bryan’s still in a strong position in the championship, taking solid points and keeping us in the title chase. Wakefield can be a tricky place, and it takes a lot of laps there to get right and it shows that one day of testing just wasn’t enough for us this time. We have strong leadership within the team, and it’s this leadership that keeps everyone together, motivated, focused on moving forward and gaining points at every opportunity and that’s what the team have taken from Wakefield.”
DesmoSport Ducati now turns its attention the Ducati Track Day powered by DesmoSport Ducati at Sydney Motorsport Park on Friday May 13 before preparation begins on the fourth round of the Australian Superbike Championship on June 17-19 alongside the Supercars Championship at Darwin’s Hidden Valley circuit.
