In a massive day for the red team, Honda riders won every moto across all championship classes. Boost Mobile Honda Racing’s Kyle Webster took the overall victory in the premier Kawasaki MX1 class, Jet Alsop topped the MAXXIS MX3 division for JPM Honda, and SCT Logistics Honda Racing’s Charli Cannon extended her title lead with a 1-1 performance in the EZILIFT MXW class.
Overnight rain left the iconic Echo Valley circuit heavy and technical, but the slippery conditions led to some of the most dramatic racing of the season.
In the Kawasaki MX1 class, Webster secured a narrow round victory with 1-3 moto scores. The opening race saw the reigning champion fend off fierce pressure from Todd Waters (Husqvarna) and Nathan Crawford (KTM), with Waters crashing heavily while in pursuit. Crawford kept Webster honest until the end, finishing second, followed by Luke Clout (Kawasaki) in third.
Moto two was a five-way thriller, as Wilson Todd, Crawford, Webster, Clout, and Zach Watson (Triumph) traded places throughout the race. Todd took the chequered flag, ahead of Crawford, with Webster’s third-place finish enough to seal the round win. Webster now takes the red plate heading into the final round, tied on points with Crawford and just ahead of the injured Jed Beaton.
In Pirelli MX2, it was all about Connolly. The Kiwi rider was clinical all day, topping qualifying by over a second before winning both races. The opener saw him close down a five-second gap to Noah Ferguson (KTM) in a thrilling last-lap move for the win. Race two saw Connolly hit the front early and control the race, despite a late charge from Ferguson. The Honda rider now sits on 335 points – 50 clear of Ryder Kingsford (Yamaha), with Ferguson a further 26 behind – and is now the two-time MX2 champion.
In MAXXIS MX3, Jet Alsop stopped the winning run of Kayd Kingsford with a 1-2 scorecard that kept the title race alive. Alsop dominated the opening moto, then pushed Kingsford hard in race two before settling for second. Kingsford still leads the points by 44, with one round to go.
Charli Cannon was untouchable in the EZILIFT MXW class. She topped qualifying by over five seconds and led both races from the front, even recovering from a small tip-over in moto one. Yamaha’s Madi Simpson and Kawasaki’s Taylah McCutcheon completed the podium, but Cannon now holds a strong 40-point lead in the championship.
The 2025 Penrite ProMX Championship concludes at Queensland Moto Park on August 2–3. With multiple titles still to be decided, fans can expect fireworks at the final round.
