Ducati Desmo450 MX Set for Aussie Appearance at Manjimup 15,000
Ducati Desmo450 MX Set for First Aussie Appearance at Manjimup 15,000 | Ducati Australia has officially confirmed that its all-new Desmo450 MX, the brand’s first-ever motocross machine, will make its public debut at this year’s prestigious Manjimup 15,000 on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
The landmark appearance will take place at the renowned Cosy Creek MX track in Manjimup, Western Australia, located around 300km south of Perth. A single unit of the Desmo450 MX has been air-freighted in especially for the event and will be showcased by Ducati Perth, giving local motocross fans a rare early look at the Italian marque’s bold new off-road direction.
The MX marks Ducati’s long-anticipated entry into the motocross market, and the production model is already available for order through select dealerships. Built in collaboration with Ducati Corse, the 450 MX features race-ready specifications, including a lightweight eleven-piece aluminium perimeter frame weighing under 9kg, and Ducati’s signature Desmodromic valve timing system—now re-engineered for the dirt.
Also new to the motocross space are advanced electronics rarely seen in this segment. The Desmo450 MX features Ducati’s own traction control and customisable riding modes, all configurable via the optional Ducati X-Link smartphone app.
Its Australian launch setting is fitting, Manjimup 15,000 is one of the nation’s most iconic motocross events, attracting elite Australian and international riders to the demanding 2.1km Cosy Creek circuit. The venue’s high-speed jumps, deep sand sections and long history—dating back to 1980—make it an ideal proving ground for Ducati’s new contender.
Sergi Canovas, Managing Director of Ducati Australia and New Zealand, said the local debut is a major milestone: “The arrival of the Desmo450 MX marks a significant new chapter for Ducati in Australia. Witnessing the bike firsthand, one can immediately appreciate the passion and race-bred philosophy behind its development. Debuting the Desmo450 MX at an event as iconic as the Manjimup 15,000 is a fitting tribute to both the motorcycle and the motocross community. We are proud to share this moment with Australian fans.”
