Holder’s victory marks a remarkable campaign of consistency — four round wins from four starts — and lays a strong platform for a hectic season ahead in the UK and Europe, including World Speedway Grand Prix action as he chases the distinction of becoming the first Aussie world champion since Jason Doyle in 2017.
Rohan Tungate took second place on the night, handing Lidsey his first defeat in the series, with Ben Cook rounding out the podium in a competitive final.
Holder now boasts two senior Aussie crowns after initially taking out the title in 2023. “It’s sometimes harder to win the second one than the first, and that’s certainly been the case for me,” he said, reflecting on a hard-fought championship. “I had to be on my toes the whole championship with Jaimon there the whole time. … But it’s all paid off so I am very happy.”
In the Gillman heats, Tungate’s unbeaten performance underscored his championship credentials as he progressed straight through to the final alongside Holder. Ben Cook, Lidsey, Keynan Rew, Justin Sedgmen, Mitchell McDiarmid, Reid Battye and Tate Zischke also featured in the semis under tricky track conditions.
This result kickstarts the 2026 domestic speedway season on a high note, with Australian riders now looking to carry that momentum into international rounds.
