Right before heading off to France to represent Australia, Jess Gardiner hosted 19 riders at her Putty Road property. Recent floods and landslides promised to postpone the event but armed with a special local resident’s pass, the road was opened for business.

Participants were largely intermediate level enduro riders with a couple of MX bikes also making an appearance for the two day event. “Conditions were absolutely perfect,” says Gardiner. “We got lucky because it rained the week before and then stopped just before – there was no dust and we prepped the track so it was in prime condition,” adds Gardiner.

“It was a great event and everyone had heaps of fun. We started all in one group and then split into two to give better quality feedback to each rider,” explains Gardiner, who was joined by multi-Australian trials champion Kristie McKinnon to assist with coaching.

“I was really nervous before I arrived that my riding skills wouldn’t be the same standard as everyone else’s,” says participant Kristen Marshall. “I quickly realised that the skill levels were really varied, and it didn’t matter at all. Everyone was so supportive, there was instant camaraderie amongst the group. Jess is the most amazing, patient and hardworking coach, she made sure everything ran like clockwork and I seriously don’t remember the last time I had so much fun,” she adds.

Gardiner is hosting a women-only trail bike ride in the Vic High Country on 12-13 November. Epic trails with plenty of singletrack, enduro bikes recommended. Check out more details here.
