MotoMAX Motorcycles in Perth has revealed a one-off Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 that trades showroom civility for all-out rally durability. Commissioned by the owner of the “Regency Scrambler”, the brief was simple: build a machine capable of completing the Holland Track. Press: RE ANZ

The Holland Track is a 300-kilometre stretch of scrub and deep sand that cuts through Western Australia’s goldfields. The project began with a complete strip-down of the new liquid-cooled Himalayan 450 chassis. Key upgrades include long-travel SHOWA forks re-valved and protected by fork-leg armour, heavy-duty engine and tank guards, a robust aluminium bash-plate and a high-mounted front mudguard to shed mud and sand. Fuel X engine tuning and a full HP Corse exhaust system add performance while shedding weight.

A custom navigation tower carries a rally screen and LED lighting, with additional bracing to survive harsh landings. Wider Rally-style footpegs, taller handlebars and a slim tail section improve rider ergonomics when standing for long periods. The stock wheels were swapped for Excel rims anodised in royal blue, shod with aggressive knobby rubber for maximum traction.

MotoMAX owner Mark Petkovic confirmed that every component was tested in real conditions before the bike was photographed. “Nothing is cosmetic,” he said, noting that the build retains the Himalayan’s signature simplicity while enhancing reliability for multiday desert riding.
