Motul Pirelli ASBK heads to Southern Downs in July
Australia’s fastest athletes on two wheels will race into the Southern Downs for the 2019 Motul Pirelli Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) at Warwick’s Morgan Park. Motorcycling Australia brings Australia’s premier motorcycle road racing championship to Morgan Park for the Queensland round of the Championship from 5 to 7 July 2019.
Featuring the Kawasaki Superbike Class, a field that includes no less than six previous ASBK Superbike Champions in a packed schedule of top-class racing, the event promises a fun-filled weekend for the whole family.
Councillor for Events, Sport, Parks and Recreation at Southern Downs Regional Council (SDRC), Yve Stocks said hosting the ASBK at Morgan Park further cements the Southern Downs as the Horsepower Capital of Australia, “As a keen motorsport fan, I am excited to see Australia’s best riders tackle the challenging Morgan Park circuit in what promises to be an intense competition,” Cr Stocks said. “Morgan Park and its world-class facilities continue to attract the top motorsport competitions in Australia to the Southern Downs, which brings in visitors from outside the region and provides a boost to our local economy.
“ASBK is offering free entry to the event on Friday, 5 July, before qualifying and the racing action kicks off on Saturday and Sunday, so I encourage everyone to come down and check out this great event for our region,” Stocks concluded.
Motorcycling Australia CEO Peter Doyle said he was excited to see the series return to the Southern Downs, “The Morgan Park round is one of our most successful events for the year,” Mr Doyle said. “The Warwick community has provided great support to the series in the past few years, which is why it’s such a pleasure to be returning again this year. We’re looking forward to another enjoyable event for both locals and visitors to the region.”
