RAAF Jets to Thrill Fans at Phillip Island GP
The Australian Grand Prix Corporation today announced the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as an official partner at the Michelin Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2016.
For the first time at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, two F/A-18A Classic Hornets will wow fans young and old with a sensational, high-adrenalin aerial display, showcasing incredible speed and spectacular precision as they take to the skies.
Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO, Andrew Westacott, is delighted to partner with the RAAF and align in their passion for speed, performance and innovation.
“It’s a sensational, breathtaking experience for fans, and like them, I can’t wait to see the highly skilled RAAF pilots showcase high-precision manoeuvre such as loops and barrel rolls as the two F/A-18A Classic Hornets fly across the stunning Phillip Island coastal backdrop,” said Westacott.

A single F/A-18A Classic Hornet from Number 2 Operational Conversion Unit at Royal Australian Air Force Base Williamtown will be conducting flying displays throughout the event.
Two F/A-18A aircraft will be conducting a practice flypast on Friday 21 October from5.25pm. These flypasts will include several low passes conducted at 150 feet and at a maximum speed of 1000km/h.
A single F/A-18A aircraft will conduct a flying display at 9.35am on Saturday 22 Octoberand at 3.25pm on Sunday 23 October. The flying display will be conducted to a minimum of 150 feet.
Noise management and environment impact are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying.
