Suzuki celebrates 100th birthday with Anniversary GSX-R’s
This year, Suzuki Motor Corporation celebrates its 100th year of incorporation. Originally founded by Michio Suzuki in 1909 as Suzuki Loom Works, located in a small coastal village of Hamamatsu producing weaving looms for Japan’s booming silk industry.

On 15th March 1920, Michio made the bold decision during the post-war depression to transform the company into a joint-stock company, and thus became Suzuki Loom Manufacturing Co.
In 1952, Suzuki introduced its first auxiliary bicycle engine called the Power Free, which featured a 36cc 2-stroke engine and became an immediate success with record sales.
The retro-inspired livery on the Limited Edition machines pays homage to Suzuki’s early Grand Prix machines.
Achieving strong sales with the Power Free and the subsequently released Diamond Free, on 1st June 1954, the company’s name was changed to Suzuki Motor Co., Ltd.
Today Suzuki products can be grouped into three main classifications: motorcycle, automobile, and marine. To commemorate this milestone achieved, the ECSTAR GSX-RR MotoGP machine features a special retro-inspired livery for the 2020 season, paying homage to Suzuki’s early Grand Prix machines of the 1960s.

Continuing the celebration, Suzuki Motor Corporation has announced plans to introduce a range of 100th Anniversary Limited Edition GSX-R models featuring the same retro-inspired livery from the GSX-RR MotoGP machine.
The 100th Anniversary Limited Edition GSX-R1000R will be strictly limited to 30 units and will be available from January 2021 for a manufacturer’s recommended retail price of $26,990 Ride Away.
The 100th Anniversary GSX-R1000R will be strictly limited to 30 units and will be available early 2021.
The 100th Anniversary Limited Edition GSX-R750 will be strictly limited to 50 units and will be available from January 2021 for a manufacturer’s recommended retail price of $17,490 Ride Away.
The 100th Anniversary Limited Edition GSX-R600 will be strictly limited to 10 units and will be available from January 2021 for a manufacturer’s recommended retail price of $16,490 Ride Away.
The Limited Edition GSX-R750 will be strictly limited to 50 units and will be available from January 2021.
