Triumph Motorcycles has wrapped up a hugely successful showing at the 2025 Red Bull Romaniacs, with factory rider Jonny Walker finishing runner-up in the new Adventure Ultimate category and Dakar legend Sam Sunderland dominating the Adventure Lite class on his competitive debut for the British marque.

The Romanian extreme enduro epic introduced its new Adventure classes for 2025, giving manufacturers the chance to demonstrate the off-road credentials of their ADV machines in one of the world’s most brutal multi-day events. Triumph entered the fray with near-stock Tiger 900 Rally Pro models – and walked away with two standout results.Hard enduro star Walker, competing with the Triumph Factory Racing Enduro Team, delivered a gutsy second-place finish in the Adventure Ultimate category. After securing P2 in the opening city Prologue, the Brit struck trouble on Day One with a minor technical issue that dropped him down the order. Unfazed, Walker stormed back with three consecutive off-road stage wins to claw his way up the leaderboard, ultimately finishing second overall – just 3m43s off the win.“This year’s Romaniacs was one of the most fun races I’ve done,” said Walker. “The Tiger 900 Rally Pro handled everything we threw at it. Once we sorted that early issue, we showed we had the pace to win. It was awesome to do something so different on a big adventure bike.”

In the Adventure Lite class, Sunderland made a dream debut with Triumph, taking a clean sweep across all five days. The two-time Dakar winner was never headed after winning the Prologue and continued to dominate through the treacherous Carpathian stages. His overall winning margin? A staggering four hours and 19 minutes.“It’s been a great week and a perfect way to return to racing,” Sunderland said. “The Tiger 900 Rally Pro didn’t miss a beat – steep climbs, rivers, technical singletrack, it handled everything. I even got to enjoy the views on the final day!”Sunderland’s Romaniacs run also marks the start of a bigger challenge: he’s set to attempt a round-the-world record aboard a Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer in the coming weeks, taking on 18,000 miles across five continents.

Ian Kimber, Head of Global Racing at Triumph, praised both riders: “To enter one of the toughest off-road events on nearly showroom-spec bikes, with minimal prep, and get these results is outstanding. We’ve proved just how capable the Tiger 900 is in extreme terrain. Jonny was exceptional, and Sam’s performance shows just how dialled in the bike is, even straight out of the crate.”The Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro features a 108PS three-cylinder engine, top-shelf Showa suspension, cornering ABS and traction control, six rider modes, Brembo Stylema calipers, and long-travel suspension – making it one of the most versatile adventure machines on the market.Available now, the Tiger 900 Rally Pro can be test ridden or configured online at TriumphMotorcycles.com.au.
