This year’s event saw Australians claim 10 of the 12 national crowns, while the visiting New Zealand contingent took home two titles at the 27th running of the prestigious junior championship.
Standout Performances-
One of the most gripping contests came in the 128cc to 150cc 2T & 200cc to 250cc 4T 15yrs class, where Honda’s Tomi Doble fought with Kiwi challenger Hayden Draper. Doble held his nerve with two narrow wins early in the finals, and despite Draper’s strong response in race three, the Australian did just enough to clinch the championship.
In the 13-U15yrs division, GYTR Yamaha Junior Racing’s Heath Davy came out on top after consistent results across the finals, while KTM’s Kyle Harvey and Yamaha’s Jobe Dunne filled the podium.
Girls Lead the Way-
In the Girls 100cc to 150cc 2T & 200cc to 250cc 4T 13-U16 class, New Zealand’s Karaitiana Horne was unstoppable, claiming five wins from five starts in a commanding display. Behind her, Makayla Rimbas and Addison Orr battled hard for the remaining podium positions, with Rimbas ultimately taking second.
Meanwhile, Eliza Dennis continued her dominance in the Girls 85cc 12-U16yrs, taking four wins from five races and sealing the championship ahead of Aida Harris and Stephanie Turnbull after a closely fought series.
Junior Battles-
The 85cc 2T & 150cc 4T classes delivered thrilling racing across both age divisions. In the 12-U14yrs, Kiwi Connor Feather edged KTM’s Ollie Birkitt by just a single point to secure the crown, while in the 14-U16yrs, a final race victory for Dylan Gromball was enough to snatch the title away from Tyson Williams in dramatic fashion.
Other highlights included:
GYTR Yamaha’s Kye Sproule taking out the 85cc 9-U12yrs class with two race wins.
Seth Thomas (GASGAS Junior Racing Team) capturing the 100cc-125cc 13-U15yrs title.
Cooper Bowman winning the 100cc-125cc 15yrs championship after a nail-biting points battle.
Mason Ezergailis dominating the 65cc 10-U12yrs class with three wins from three races.
Nate Forwood achieving a perfect score in the 65cc 7-U10yrs category.
Malachi van Maanenberg clinching the 50cc 6-U9yrs championship after a final race decider.
A Showcase of Junior Talent-
The 2025 AJMX once again confirmed its reputation as the pinnacle of junior motocross competition in Australia. With outstanding performances across every class, the event not only crowned national champions but also highlighted the depth of young talent set to carry the sport forward in the years to come.
