FTN Motion Launches Streetdog XR in Australia
New Zealand electric motorcycle company FTN Motion has officially launched its newest model, the Streetdog XR, in Australia, arriving at a time when riders are seeking smarter, more cost-effective ways to navigate rising living costs and increasing urban congestion.
Priced from $9,990 AUD for a limited production run, the Streetdog XR marks a significant shift for the brand. While maintaining its small-batch, hand-built ethos, FTN Motion is opening ownership to a broader group of riders. With monthly production capacity capped, early demand is already filling build slots well ahead of the first deliveries.
Customers can now join the waitlist ahead of deliveries scheduled to begin in May 2026. The new model will also be showcased publicly at the Melbourne Motor Show from 10–12 April.
Shaped by rider feedback, the XR introduces higher handlebars, raised suspension, and increased ground clearance, enhancements that give the bike a more capable ride and stronger on-road presence. Paired with instant electric torque and a top speed of 85km/h, the XR continues the Streetdog’s reputation for smooth, balanced performance, adapting seamlessly between city commutes and coastal rides.
A removable battery that charges via a standard wall outlet is designed to reduce the friction often associated with electric vehicles, also offering savings in day-to-day running costs compared to petrol-powered alternatives.
The XR represents the company’s most significant product update since the original Streetdog launched four years ago, which we reviewed here. Each model blends timeless motorcycle aesthetics with modern electric simplicity, focusing on smoothness, low maintenance, and intuitive operation.
The XR joins a growing lineup that includes the recently introduced Streetdog 50, a moped-class electric motorbike designed for simple urban mobility. The Streetdog 50 incorporates the platform’s latest design upgrades and, in some Australian states, can be ridden on a standard car licence. It is priced from $8,990 AUD.
Founded by engineers Luke Sinclair and Kendall Bristow, FTN Motion has delivered more than 250 hand-built Streetdogs across New Zealand and Australia. The company is now scaling production to meet growing demand for lightweight electric transport solutions.
