2018 Benelli TRK 502X (LAMS) Tech Talk
The Benelli TRK 502X features a liquid-cooled parallel twin four-stroke DOHC 499.6cc powerplant, with a bore and stroke of 69 x 66.8mm and 11.5:1 compression ratio, with dual 37mm throttle-bodies, matches to a six-speed gearbox and mechanical clutch.
Power output is limited to A2 requirements for Europe, also fulfiling Australian LAMS requirements, with 47.6 peak horsepower at 8500rpm, and 46Nm of torque at 6000rpm. Wet weight is on the heftier side at 235kg, with a full tank of 20L of fuel.
A steel trellis frame and steel swingarm are eye catching features, with big 50mm USD Marzocchi forks that offer 145mm travel but no adjustability, and totally revised internals and settings from the standard TRK 502. Also new on the X version is the fully adjustable rear shock with 170mm travel.
Brakes are another departure from the standard TRK 502, with the X boasting dual two-piston Benelli branded calipers on the front, not radially mounted, while front discs are 320mm petal style rotors, with a single piston rear caliper and 260mm rotor. Brake performance is significantly improved over the standard TRK 502.
Henley Racing tubeless cross-spoked rims take Metzeler Tourance tyres as standard fitment, with a 19in front. Wheels are 3.00 x 19in front, and 4.25 x 17in rear, taking 110/80-19 and 150/70-17 tyres.
Seat height is raised from the standard TRK 502, with the X sitting at 850mm, with a shorter wheelbase of 1505mm. Ground clearance is 220mm, offering stronger off-road clearance, in keeping with the bikes more adventurous leanings.
Standard inclusions include LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), with LED indicators, handguards, a mini-sump protector, medium height screen, rear rack, crash bars, and ABS, with an ABS switch for the rear. The exhaust is also a taller unit, matching the bike’s adventure style.
Instruments are LCD, with White, Grey and Red colours available for $9,390 on the road, up from standard TRK 502’s price of $8,790 on the road.
