Fans recently saw the running of the BRTS Speedway Championships at Mick Doohan Speedway, Brisbane. Royal Enfield rider Josh Farrell was the sole non-Harley rider in the ‘Hooligans / Twins’ Class on his Interceptor 650 but still showed dominance on the parallel twin.

“Josh came away with third place overall, after having only ridden the Interceptor 650 a couple of times prior to the meeting and it was his first competitive hit-out on the Interceptor.”

This class was an invitational race only and it sure did entertain the crowds with bar-to-bar racing throughout the day.  “It was a much tighter oval than what I’ve been used to racing on in the past, so I was almost in a constant slide all the way around, therefore needing to keep over the front of the bike and steer with the rear.” commented Josh. 

The Royal Enfield is an uncommon choice for speedway racers here in Australia, but Josh’s bike looks at home on the track!

“With some more set-up and track time I’m confident I can improve on this weekend’s results. Overall I was pretty happy with the outcome on the weekend though, as we’ve still got a bit of work to do on the setup, but as the only bikes in front of me were at least 1200cc, I reckon we did pretty good” 

Josh’s next ride will be at selected rounds of the ‘Sultans of Slide’ series and the `Short Shift Showdown’ at Coffs Harbour in September.
