The SV-7GX is a middleweight Crossover bike that takes the proven SV650 powerplant and brings it up to Euro5, adds in engine refinements, an all-new chassis and modern tech.

Suzuki has unveiled the all-new model called the SV-7GX at EICMA 2025, introducing a middleweight crossover developed from the legendary SV650 platform and aimed at riders seeking a balance of nakedbike agility and touring comfort. Here is what we know…

Power comes from Suzuki’s proven 645cc liquid-cooled DOHC 90-degree V-twin, producing 54kW at 8500rpm and 64Nm at 6800rpm. There is also a LAMS version for Australia.

Suzuki positions the SV-7GX between the SV650 nakedbike and the V-Strom 650XT adventure tourer, combining the SV’s compact roadster proportions with the V-Strom’s upright stance and half cowl for improved weather protection. It features 17in wheels, a 795mm seat height and a 211kg curb weight, sitting neatly between the street and adventure segments in Suzuki’s line-up.

For the new model, Suzuki has revised intake and exhaust tuning, introduced low-friction pistons and rings and recalibrated fuel injection for stronger mid-range torque and reduced vibration. As well as achieving Euro 5+ emissions compliance, Suzuki says these refinements aim to deliver broader, more flexible performance while maintaining the characteristic V-twin feel.

The SV-7GX introduces Ride-by-Wire throttle control to Suzuki’s 645cc V-twin platform for the first time. The new system replaces the previous cable-actuated setup, allowing for more precise management of airflow and fuelling.

This change underpins the model’s introduction of two power modes (A and B) and three levels (plus off) of traction control, while also refining the response of Low RPM Assist, which helps prevent stalling during low-speed manoeuvres. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox, a two-way quick-shifter and Suzuki’s Easy Start system. Fuel economy is listed at 4.2L/100 km and a 17.4-litre tank increases capacity by nearly four litres over the SV650.

The SV-7GX employs a steel trellis frame that uses the engine as a stressed member, enhancing rigidity and helping to centralise mass. This structure is paired with a newly designed aluminium swingarm, which contributes to balanced handling and weight reduction. The front-end runs right-way-up 41mm telescopic front forks and a link-type rear suspension with an adjustable preload monoshock.

The SV-7GX is equipped with dual 290mm front discs paired with two-piston calipers, and a single 240 mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper, complete with a basic ABS system. The SV-7GX rides on 10-spoke cast-alloy wheels fitted with Pirelli Angel GT II tyres, sized 120/70ZR17 front and 160/60ZR17 rear, confirming its road-biased orientation rather than dual-purpose intent.

Ergonomics have been designed for longer stints, with a tapered aluminium handlebar set closer to the rider than on the SV650. There’s 10mm more padding in the front seat and 20mm more for the pillion. A three-position adjustable windscreen offers 50mm of height range, complemented by integrated hand guards. The standard rear rack includes grab handles, pannier mounts and tie-down points.

Lighting is full LED and incorporates Suzuki’s Aerial Light Distribution technology, which is an adaptive illumination feature that actively adjusts the shape and intensity of the beam according to speed and lean angle. At higher speeds, the beam projects further and narrows slightly to maximise long-range visibility, while at lower speeds or when cornering, it broadens to light the area closer to the bike and the inside of the turn.

The SV-7GX is the first Suzuki in its class to feature the new Ride Connect+ system, pairing a 4.2in full-colour TFT display with smartphone integration. The interface provides two display layouts and automatic brightness adjustment, while the Ride Connect+ app enables turn-by-turn navigation, call and message alerts, weather and traffic updates, trip history, service reminders and parking-location display. A USB-C port beside the display allows direct device charging.

The SV-7GX will be available in three colour options: Pearl Brilliant White / Metallic Triton Blue, Pearl Matte Greige with red wheels, and Glass Sparkle Black with blue wheel detailing. There’s no word at this stage about Australian availability or pricing but stay tuned.
