Gear Review: Fly Racing Barricade Long Sleeve Armour

The Fly Racing Barricade Long Sleeve Suit is essentially a mesh long sleeve shirt with full protection for your chest, shoulders, spine and elbows and available in Small to 2XL sizing, with a Youth option also available. There’s also the Barricade Zip Vest if you’re not after the arm and shoulder protection but I think going the full hog is the way to go.

The Barricade is all day comfortable but I did find the slightest of friction on my elbows if I wasn’t wearing a compression shirt underneath. The mesh construction keeps heat and sweat build-up to a minimum and it’s easy to forget you’re even wearing the Barricade once you’re used to it.

I personally haven’t had an opportunity to put this piece of kit through any extensive crash testing, however the reasonable buy-in of $179.95 and the comfort mean there’s no reason not to gear up.

With the centre zip, it’s also as easy as you’d like to get on, and fits nicely underneath my Fly Racing Evolution DST jersey.

Overall the Barricade Long Sleeve Suit offers plenty of peace of mind and an extensive amount of protection in the one piece of kit and for those new to off-road riding, or just looking for a decent protective option, this ticks all the boxes for me.
