With a mid level adventure boot price, road boot comfort and some great features, the TCX Infinity 3 could be the right boot for you. We put them to the test on and off-road.

Ever since I started riding as a kid, there has always been a pair of off-road boots on my feet. From my dad’s old Axos that were three sizes too big to, most recently, the latest and greatest MX-inspired slides. The TCX Infinity 3 are my first pairs of soft-adventure boots.

Matt wore the Bora pants on the BMW GS Safari and on his F 900 GS Enduro test, and continues to wear them in Adventure testing.

It’s always been competition-inspired foot protection I’ve run off-road… When the TCX Infinity 3 rocked up, I was initially surprised at the style of the boot as it is not what I would have considered to be made for off-road/adventure riding. Styled like an over-sized wet weather touring boot, it hardly looks like it is a match for the heavy, armoured and bulky off-road boots I’ve always used adventure riding. But how wrong that first impression was, because the TCX Infinity 3 is made just for that.

Light, ridiculously comfortable, waterproof, and so easy to put on and take off, for me the Infinity 3 has redefined all my expectations of an off-road adventure boot. This hasn’t come at the total expense of protection mind you, more a compromise, as there’s decent reinforcement in the toe, heel ankle and shin areas as well as heat protection panels on the inside of each of the calf areas.More impressive is the level of comfort these boots deliver. With a simple dial wire, the boots open wide so you can easily slide your feet into what is a lightly cushioned inner liner. The boot closes tight enough to fit easily under a set of riding pants and will just as easily take pants inside of them if that’s how you prefer to wear them.

The quality of build is exceptional. The main materials include suede, engineered fabric and synthetics with a top level of finish and construction. Time will tell how well they stand up to regular use and abuse but so far there is nothing untoward.

The performance of the boots in the rain and on water crossings is exceptional and, although they are water-tight, the boots weren’t exceptionally warm to wear. Summer months may prove to be different. Comfort when walking around is excellent, with a decent amount of flexibility in the sole that doesn’t translate to lack of support when riding.

Matt loved the F 900 GS Enduro and found it the perfect balance between weight and power for off-road control and confidence.

Priced at well under $600, the TCX Infinity 3 is cheaper than your top-of-the-line motocross boot, and a whole lot more versatile so ideally suited to adventure riding. In terms of performance, they tick all the boxes being light, stylish, waterproof, comfortable and protective – the essentials for big days off-road and on whatever distance of tarmac you need to do in between.
