Such is the pride within Harley-Davidson that decades ago The Company created their own University to train all employees of Harley-Davidson in how to be the best at what they do. This isn’t limited to mechanical knowledge, it is far wider in its reach to include sales, clothing and merchandise, accessories, media and pretty much every aspect of the Harley-Davidson business.

This type of training goes on through Harley-Davidson Australia which is part of the parent company. HDA was established in 2006 with its state of the art building and training facility in Sydney. 2007 saw the start of the HD University training programs. I’m very proud to be part of that. I was the original Trainer for Australia and New Zealand, having gone through the University in Harley-Davidson Headquarters in Milwaukie in mid 2007.

The intensity of the training back then was immense with months of study and assignments to get to that stage of Master Technician and then Trainer for Australia and New Zealand, so I am all too familiar in what is required to be a Master Technician here in Australia for Harley-Davidson.

First they all had to qualify with multiple assignments conducted in their own time, a total of at least seven assignments needed to be completed and passed with high scores before they were eligible for the The Master Technician competition.

It was great to see the delight in all three highly talented technicians when receiving their awards, it was very clear that all of them were extremely proud of how they performed.

What a fantastic initiative from Harley-Davidson to have such a worldwide recognised training system that gives great credit to its technicians and staff. Pride, passion and tradition is what Harley-Davidson does so well for not only themselves but for the owners of Harley-Davidsons around the world. Great event, and great results. So, can Ben Adams make it a trifecta in 2025? The challenge is set!
