CFMOTO's 500SR VOOM is set to launch in Australia this May. Limited to just 90 units, it combines 1980s-1990s styling with modern performance for $10,990 R/A... Press: CFMOTO Aus

New Model | 2025 CFMOTO 500SR VOOM | CFMOTO Australia has officially taken the wraps off the 2025 CFMOTO 500SR VOOM, a full-powered inline four-cylinder middleweight that merges 1980s GP bike style with cutting-edge modern engineering.

The VOOM is a sharp and evocative addition to the booming SR range. With 61kW on tap, a 220km/h top speed, and standout retro styling, the VOOM isn’t just a throwback – CFMOTO say it’s a proper performance machine ready to carve up the streets and circuits. And with only 90 units coming down under, it’s going to be a hot ticket. We’ll be testing one as soon as it lands – stay tuned for the full review, but looking at the spec’s, it should make a good street bike, perhaps more than a track one.

Engine

At the heart of the 500SR VOOM is a brand-new 499cc DOHC inline four-cylinder powerplant that screams to a redline of 13,000rpm. Peak power is 58kW at 12,500rpm, or 61kW with RAM Air assistance, backed up by 49Nm of torque at 10,000rpm. The result? A claimed 0–100km/h time of under 4.2 seconds and a top whack of over 220km/h.

The engine’s free-revving nature is matched by an up-only quick-shifter and a slipper clutch for seamless acceleration and smooth downshifts. CFMOTO say that it’s got the soundtrack to match, too – a proper wail from the dual exhausts that channels the spirit of early-‘90s race bikes. The VOOM name? It’s the sound it makes…

Chassis

Underneath the sleek bodywork is a well-equipped chassis designed for serious riding. Up front is a 41mm USD fork with adjustability, matched to a preload-adjustable rear monoshock on a multi-link setup. Braking is handled by 300mm dual front discs with four-piston radial calipers, backed by dual-channel ABS and multi-mode traction control.

A 20-way adjustable steering damper adds stability at high speeds, and the VOOM rolls on CST CM-S3N radial tyres for extra grip. Rider ergonomics are designed to be aggressive yet surprisingly versatile, with three seat height options available via genuine accessories (785mm, 795mm standard, and 815mm). A broad, padded seat keeps things comfortable for longer stints.

Styling

Twin round LED headlights, a minimalist fairing and semi-handlebar-mounted mirrors hark back to the golden age of racing. The bodywork flows gracefully with clean lines and subtle throwback touches, reminiscent of CFMOTO’s smaller XO PAPIO Racer.

Dual underseat-style mufflers complete the look, while colour choices – Nebula White or Zephyr Blue – both pop in person. Whether it’s parked up at the café or leaned over on your favourite twisty road, the VOOM turns heads. It’s retro done right.

Electronics

The 500SR VOOM is well equipped in the tech department. A 5-inch curved TFT display shows all key ride info clearly, with navigation projection, gear indicators and shift reminders. Dual USB ports (Type-A and Type-C) are standard, and the optional T-Box unit unlocks CFMOTO Ride App connectivity.

Proven Performance

Before it even arrives in showrooms, the 500SR VOOM is making headlines. In early 2025, CFMOTO Australia brought the VOOM to the salt flats of Lake Gairdner, South Australia, where it took on the Australian Land Speed Record for the 500cc production class – and won. Piloted by Richard Harding in the 500P-P category, the VOOM achieved a new record of 227.42km/h (141.31mph), obliterating the previous mark of 199.14km/h.
