“Come to Queensland” they said, “It’s a lovely winter getaway”. Well, they got the winter part right with rain and cooler temps and while the earlier runners got some dry track (and the Alpinestars Superbike riders got no more than three dry laps!), for most it was moist...and that created its own set of circumstances. For most riders that meant sitting in their garage and not out on their bike.

A dry forecast for Saturday and Sunday meant that there was little to gain from going out in the wet around the 3km Morgan Park circuit. There’s no data to gather, no wet tyres to test, you might fall off and as Cru Halliday noted “it’s cold out there.”  And so it was. Some riders went out for the experience (the whole OJC field) and others because “I just like riding a bike” (Bryan Staring).

In the end, the results sheets told us little about what the weekend has in store for us.
