The 2018 BMW GS Safari hosted some 220 GS riders over the incredible mountain terrain and epic trails of the Australian High Country. Before the event, over 70 riders also embraced the opportunity to participate in BMW Off Road Training to assist with improving their confidence and skills before the event.

On-hand at BMW Off Road Training were Head Instructors, Shane Booth and Chris Urquhart with the special assistance of VIP Instructor – Isle of Man TT legend Cameron Donald. Showcasing their technique and skills, the team of instructors assisted riders in preparing for the big adventure to come.

Following Off Road Training, the annual GS Safari kicked off in Thredbo, New South Wales, with riders venturing to Bright in Victoria.

Bright hosted the event for two nights as riders explored the technical trails and mountain peaks of the region, before making their way to another highlight destination of the Victorian High Country – Mansfield.

After a relaxing night in Mansfield, riders prepared for the 2018 GS Safari’s penultimate leg, which travelled east to Lakes Entrance.

This stage – the longest on the event – provided challenging, dusty and difficult terrain but proved a highlight for many riders, encouraging them to step up to the challenge and improve their skills.

Exploring the picturesque region of Lakes Entrance, riders prepared for the final stage of the adventure: the return ride to Thredbo. For many participants, this was a bittersweet end to a rewarding week. It was a chance to celebrate their achievements, yet it was an end to a fantastic week of epic motorcycling and new friendships.
