BMW R 1300 R, RT and RS Heading Down Under Soon!
BMW Motorrad Australia is set to bolster its 2025 line-up with three major releases arriving this quarter. Back in May we showed you the dynamic R 1300 R roadster, the performance-focused R 1300 RS sports tourer, and the luxurious R 1300 RT tourer details. Here’s a reminder of what is to come!
All models share BMW’s powerful 1,300cc two-cylinder boxer engine producing 107kW (145hp) at 7,750rpm and 149Nm at 6,500rpm, promising strong performance across their respective segments.

R 1300 R: The Ultimate Roadster Evolution
Priced from $22,200 plus on-road costs, the new R 1300 R brings visual and technical upgrades over its predecessor. With its flatter handlebars and slightly rear-set footrests, the riding position is more active while retaining comfort for touring or commuting.
Christof Lischka, Head of Development at BMW Motorrad, said: “With the new BMW R 1300 R, we’ve taken our dynamic roadster with boxer engine to a whole new level. It delivers a far sportier experience while retaining BMW touring capability.”
Key features include a new upside-down telescopic fork, revised EVO Paralever rear suspension, and a redesigned chassis with a sheet metal main frame and die-cast aluminium rear frame for improved stiffness and mass centralisation. The R 1300 R also boasts lighter wheels (-1.4kg), enhancing acceleration, braking, and handling.
Four variants will be available: the base Snapper Rocks Blue, Exclusive Racing Blue Metallic, Performance Light White, and premium Option 719 Black Storm Metallic.
Standard equipment includes Engine Drag Torque Control (MSR), Dynamic ESA, multiple riding modes, ABS Pro, LED lighting, and a TFT screen. Options include automated shift assist, sports suspension, adaptive headlight, heated seats, luggage systems, and the Riding Assistant with Active Cruise Control and Front Collision Warning.
R 1300 RS: Sport Touring Refined
The new R 1300 RS, starting at $23,090, is BMW’s flagship boxer-engined sports tourer. Designed for riders wanting dynamic performance with everyday practicality, it includes Dynamic ESA, multiple riding modes, adjustable windscreen, and a comfortable riding position.
For 2025, the RS receives the same updated boxer engine and chassis technology as the R 1300 R, along with lighter wheels and refined ergonomics for improved handling. Its Performance variant features sports suspension, milled and adjustable footrest systems, sports tyres, and additional styling upgrades.
The RS comes in Racing Blue Metallic, Black Storm Metallic (Triple Black style), Light White (Performance style), and Brooklyn Grey Metallic (Option 719 style). Premium features such as Riding Modes Pro, adaptive headlights, automated shift assistant, heated seats, and luggage options are available across the range.
R 1300 RT: Touring Luxury Elevated
For riders seeking supreme comfort, the R 1300 RT arrives priced from $39,990 plus on-road costs. Building on its reputation as BMW’s ultimate touring machine, the RT adds a Comfort Passenger Package including heated seats and grips, plus a heated backrest for pillion riders.
The RT continues to feature integral pannier cases in body colour (27L), cruise control, a 10.25-inch TFT display, Dynamic ESA, and full integral ABS Pro. Optional extras include the Automated Shift Assistant for clutchless riding, sport brakes, and an adaptive headlight system that optimises corner illumination.
BMW says the new RT offers a broader usage profile, with sporty upgrades such as the advanced Shift Assistant Pro and electronic Dynamic Chassis Adaptation for confident country road riding.
A Unified Boxer Platform
All three models are underpinned by BMW’s enhanced 1,300cc boxer engine featuring ShiftCam technology for variable valve timing and lift, achieving Euro 5+ compliance while delivering greater power and efficiency than previous generations.
Across the R, RS, and RT, new electronic packages are available to suit touring, sports touring, and performance roadster applications, including Riding Modes Pro, Dynamic Packages with sport brakes, and automated shift systems for relaxed or aggressive riding styles.
