Model Update | 2026 Yamaha Tenere World Raid
Yamaha has unveiled the MY26 Tenere 700 World Raid, an evolution of their flagship long-distance adventure model. The new World Raid arrives for 2026 with upgraded suspension, premium electronics, engine refinements, ergonomic improvements and fresh styling. Press: YMA
The big news is the switch to Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T), bringing two selectable power modes — Sport and Explorer — and enabling a full six-axis IMU package for the first time on a Ténéré. That means lean-sensitive traction control, slide control, cornering ABS, selectable ABS modes and more adjustability whether you’re in the dunes or carving bitumen. A dedicated ABS button makes on-the-fly changes straightforward, and the whole system is designed to give both newer riders and seasoned adventurers more confidence and control.
The legendary 689cc CP2 twin now meets Euro5+ emissions regulations thanks to a redesigned airbox, which surprisingly results in a torquier and more linear engine, especially at low rpm — ideal for tricky climbs and slow-speed off-road manoeuvres. Gear engagement has been improved with updated dog gears for smoother shifts in all six gears, and the bike is now pre-wired for an optional up/down quickshifter.
Suspension receives one of the most significant overhauls since the model’s launch. The MY26 World Raid runs 46mm KYB USD forks with Kashima coating and revised damping, plus a fully adjustable KYB rear shock with increased stroke for tougher off-road work. Travel is now 230mm front and 220mm rear, with improved bottoming resistance and better bump compliance across the board. A new 16-step steering damper adds stability in ruts, rocks and high-speed dirt.
Yamaha has redesigned the dual 23-litre side-mounted tanks, saving 1.5kg while retaining the massive 500km range the World Raid is famous for. Their reshaped structure improves rider movement and lowers the pump placement for better weight centralisation. The new one-piece rally seat, wider footpegs, strengthened muffler bracket and updated subframe make the model more robust and long-haul friendly.
Touring comfort jumps another level with cruise control, a new speed limiter, improved wind protection, new removable side deflectors and upgraded LED lighting. The cockpit is completely refreshed with a vertical 6.3-inch TFT offering three themes — Street, Explorer and Raid — plus smartphone connectivity, calls, messages and Google-powered turn-by-turn navigation via the MyRide app. New handlebar switches with a five-way joystick simplify menu control on the move. A USB-C port rounds out the tech package.
The MY26 model also adopts fresh styling with a more refined rally silhouette, a new LED headlight assembly, and updated bodywork designed for durability and rider freedom. Spoked 21/18-inch wheels remain, now paired with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres for balanced 50/50 performance. Ground clearance sits at 255mm, and overall the bike retains the lightweight steel backbone frame that’s made the T7 range so capable off-road.
More than 60 genuine accessories will be available at launch, including a new skid plate, front guard, lowering kit, radiator guard, fog-light bracket and more, with many existing Ténéré 700 and World Raid parts remaining compatible.
The 2026 Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid will arrive in Australia from June 2026, offered in Redline White and Midnight Black, priced at $27,349 ride-away. A full in-depth New Model feature and video will be published on BikeReview.com.au soon.
