Harley-Davidson Australia & New Zealand has announced the arrival of the new Road King Special, which joins the Milwaukee-Eight powered Touring range in 2017.

Bathed in black and powered by the muscular 1750cc Milwaukee-Eight engine, the new Road King Special is a machine that exudes a bold new attitude and a darker edge to the traditional styling and proportions of the classic Road King.

Pricing for the new Harley-Davidson Road King Special starts at $34,995 ride away in Australia and $37,995 ride away in New Zealand.

Signature features of the Road King Special include a dark shadowed front, topped by a impressive gloss-black headlamp nacelle, a sinister custom bagger, mini-ape handlebars, stretched saddlebags, lowered profile and dominant blacked-out livery.

Lower-slung, the Road King Special channels a fresh, contemporary energy from the streets and distils it into a something that looks, and feels, completely different.

By exchanging chrome surfaces for black and lowering the bike’s profile, we’ve moved the traditional Road King into a new space that’s very current in the custom bagger scene. Powered by the acclaimed new Milwaukee-Eight engine that is featured across all new 2017 models; The Road King Special delivers more torque and acceleration that improves the motorcycling experience for riders and passengers, while retaining the iconic look, sound and feel of its predecessors. The Road King Special is the first model to feature the Milwaukee-Eight in an all-black engine finish.

Matching the style and engine upgrade is the unique Road King Special 19-inch front wheel and suspension. New fork internals offer improved damping control while the rear shocks are totally redesigned, with hydraulic spring preload (rather than air) adjustment.
