New European Motorcycle Experience: Woodcote Events
Confidence in travelling abroad is finally increasing again, which is good news for fans of motorcycle holidays. A new motorcycle experience company has launched in the UK, offering clients premium motorcycle tour, track and corporate experiences, called Woodcote Events!
Gareth Bright recently left the position of Global Events Manager, after 15 years at Triumph. He has now teamed up with Dan Linfoot, best known for BSB and FIM World Endurance, to create Woodcote Events, named after Dan’s favourite corner at Silverstone.
Gareth has spent the past 6 years organising model launches and reveals for the global motorcycle press: “My job was to create an experience for the world’s press, to test ride new Triumph models in various countries so they would (hopefully) write glowing reviews about the bikes. I planned the whole experience, including picking the roads and routes we’d take them on, and selecting the stunning hotels we would put them up in.”
“To make it more memorable, I developed the concept of inviting well known racers, from the world of motorcycling, to accompany the press on their test rides. They work as lead and tail riders, accompanying the press on some of the most renowned biking routes and roads in the world. The press loved it”.
Gareth and Dan soon realised that these types of events weren’t readily available to the public: “During lockdown we identified an opportunity to push the boundaries with motorcycle holidays. Although it is being done on 4 wheels, no one else seems to be offering it on 2 wheels. We want to offer the same premium experience to anyone who loves to ride their own bike in stunning locations across the world, and who want to meet some of their racing heroes. The added benefit is that we will organise everything, including transportation of their bike, making it easy and stress free for them”.
Some of the experiences that Gareth and Dan have been working on include riding the infamous road to Ronda in Spain; the N2 road in Portugal; the Furka and Stelvio Pass in Switzerland and Italy; and the Transfagarasan and Transalpina Pass in Romania. Most of these roads are classed as some of the best riding roads in the world.
Some of the professional riders lined up for these experiences include Steve Parrish, Niall Mackenzie, Taylor Mackenzie, Maria Costello MBE, Jamie Whitham, Jenny Tinmouth, Michael Laverty and, of course, Dan Linfoot. Many of these riders have worked with Gareth on Triumph press launches, so they are very familiar with how things are run. “We run a tight ship, making sure that the comfort and safety of our clients are priority.”
“A typical day will see us riding between 10:30am and 3:30pm, including a lunch stop (all food and drink is included). Spaces will be limited, to make the experiences more intimate and personal. Clients will be joined by lead and tail riders from the world of motorcycle racing, who will guide them on the routes we have carefully selected. They aren’t there to set the pace, so our clients can feel comfortable with going at their own pace.”
“In the late afternoon, there will be some down-time for our clients to explore the local area and enjoy the hotel facilities. In the evening we will dine together, with of our professional rider hosts joining our clients at the table. We will also have a “Tales from the Track” evening talk and Q&A with the riders, so our clients can find out more about these racing legends. It’s a personal, immersive experience from start to finish”.
Gareth and Dan are also working on putting together track coaching experiences at some of the best circuits across the world. They will also continue working with motorcycle companies and manufacturers, to deliver model launches, press events, consumer events and exhibitions.

Gareth continues: “I’ve been a biker for over 20 years and been very privileged to have the opportunity to visit these amazing locations as part of my job. I now want to share these adventures with other motorcycle enthusiasts so, with things starting to get back to normal again now, it felt like the right time to give this idea a go and start the business up. We’ve got a lot of ideas and a great team to deliver these experiences, so we’re excited about the future”.
