Claudio Domenicali, Chief Executive Officer of Ducati, took to Twitter recently to show us that dreams are becoming a reality in Borgo Panigale with the Superleggera V4. The bike was shown to us earlier this year and has been highly anticipated by Ducati fans.

“The third week after the restart is nearly complete. Dreams are becoming reality: this is the first unit of preproduction of the Superleggera, that is now ready to move into the final stages of quality control. No other street homologated motorcycle comes close the Superleggera: 224hp and a dry weight of 159kg. This bike is a true dream for every passionate motorcyclist”. Claudio Domenicali.

With a limited production of just 500 units, Ducati released news of this dream machine to the World in February 2020. The Superleggera V4 is the most powerful and technologically advanced production Ducati has ever built and is the only street-legal motorcycle that features a carbon-fibre chassis, swingarm and wheels.

The Superleggera V4 represents the company’s greatest masterpiece in terms of engineering, design and of course performance. Powered by a 998 cm3 90° V4 and accompanied by biplane wings and extreme aerodynamics, the Superleggera V4 offers a power to weight ratio of 1.54 horsepower per kilogram in racing kit configuration.

Alessandro Valia, official Ducati test rider, took the Superleggera V4 that was fitted with the racing kit and slick tires to complete a lap of the Mugello circuit. The time set by Valia was 1:52:45 which is two seconds less than the lap time that Michele Pirro set on the V4 R SBK in the 2019 Italian Motorspeed Championship (CIV).

The Superleggera V4 demolished last year's Panigale V4 R SBK lap time around the Mugello circuit.

The exclusiveness of the materials and technical advancements is reflected in the limited number of bikes, with just 500 destined for production. Each of the exclusive 500 Superleggera V4 will be individually numbered and provided with a certificate of authenticity.

Each owner will also receive the opportunity to participate in the “SBK Experience” which allows owners to ride the Panigale V4 R that competes in the World Superbike Championship.

The first unit of pre-production Superleggera V4’s is ready after the coronavirus lockdown.

Whilst 30 owners will also have an exclusive opportunity to receive access to the “MotoGP Experience” and ride the Desmosedici GP20 used by Dovizioso and Petrucci, with the close support of the Ducati Corse technicians.

At the time of purchase, owners will also have the exclusive opportunity to purchase a Dainese leather suit (with integrated air-bag) as well as a carbon fibre helmet from Arai. Both items have been specifically designed for the Superleggera V4 and incorporate the colours and graphics.

Ducati have released a series of videos on the Superleggera V4 that show off the model, it’s performance, aerodynamics and it’s components, also sharing with us onboard riding footage.
